Statoil Fuel & Retail Chooses UPP™ Across Europe

Situated on the bank of Lake Mjøsa, Statoil Strandtorget is one of the busiest service stations in Norway. Strandtorget is the first site where the UPP™ pipework and containment system was implemented for Statoil Fuel & Retail as part of their
European wide supply agreement with Franklin Fueling Systems for pipework and containment products.

Statoil Fuel & Retail wanted to standardize pipework and containment across their European network to help reduce costs and ensure consistent quality. Important
factors for selecting a supplier included adherence to all relevant regulatory standards for equipment, lowest total cost of ownership and best-in-class flow rates for filling underground tanks and providing fuel to the suction dispensers.

Statoil Fuel & Retail chose the UPP™ brand pipework system over electrically dissipative pipework systems, as under the latest EN14125:2013 European standards dissipative systems require regular checks for electrical continuity and so incur ongoing maintenance costs.

Franklin consulted with Statoil Fuel & Retail to specify a pipework and containment solution which exactly fit their rigorous requirements over multiple business units and
countries. Franklin’s economies of scale, existing strategic local distribution networks and high-quality, zero maintenance products helped ensure the lowest possible total cost of ownership for Statoil Fuel & Retail.

Franklin’s best-in-class electrically-insulating UPP™ pipework system is expected to perform maintenance-free for years to come, yielding optimum flow rates for faster
tank filling and fuel dispensing.

Franklin provided detailed 3D drawings for every aspect of Statoil Fuel & Retail’s new fuel solution, with a suite of optimization tools. Installation training of Statoil Fuel &
Retail staff and contractors was provided free of charge and Franklin engineers remained on-site during the installation to ensure that it was carried out to the highest standards and in the safest possible manner.
